My hands are sweaty and I can’t stop them shaking. I’m nervous and my pulse is racing. Yet I walk down Oxford Street in the sun with a smile on my face. I want to stop strangers in the street and tell them the good news; I have seen the light and it is Halo: Reach! On 3rd May 2010, anyone with a copy of Halo 3: ODST will be able to participate in a multiplayer beta of Halo: Reach, the latest in the best-selling Halo series from Bungie and Microsoft. UK broadband provider Be have admitted that they leaked user information in an aborted change to their web-site. On the 22nd of July 2009 Be launched a new web-site and promptly took it down after users noticed they could see other people's information. Be have released the following statement, but have otherwise not commented further on the leak. The Be leak follows a series of leaks of personal information in the UK by government departments and private companies. Dear Members Sorry for the delay in updating you on the issue with the new member centre but we wanted to be absolutely sure we had all the facts before responding. We now know that a very small % of the Be member base who logged in between 12pm and 9.30pm on Wednesday 22nd had some of their details exposed to other members.

I tried to make this a 100 word review in three parts. I failed. I parted with eight of my hard-earned English pounds for this. Any more and I would have felt severely cheated. It's the same old Bioware paradigm with different art assets. KOTOR in space, but not Star Wars space, some different non-descript Halo, Starship Troopers, Babylon 5 knock-off space. The lightsabers were the best bit of KOTOR and there aren't any in Mass Effect, that should give you some indication of where this review is going. What has it added since 2003? Nothing. It feels like exactly the same game. What arsehole gave Bioware the rights to KOTORMMO? No-one that has played any of their games it seems. I don't know why I allowed myself to hold any hope for this. Utterly irrelevent quests, delivered in severely outdated fashion. One particularly grating encounter had me encouraging a mother to seek gene therapy to prevent the child inheriting some disease that killed its father. Is this the developer trying to be topical? This is by no means the only example. |

From their wikipedia page: Introversion Software is a UK based company that labels itself "The last of the bedroom programmers". It was founded in 2002 by three friends, Chris Delay, Mark Morris and Thomas Arundel, who met when they were undergraduates at Imperial College London.[1] Their first game, Uplink was programmed and designed almost exclusively by Chris, while Mark and Tom handled marketing, materials and the other 'business' elements. Their small initial investment enabled them to buy CD-Rs and printer cartridges. Early copies of the game were hand-made. The company was able to fully make back their investment within a few hours of accepting orders. A large community formed, and the team, along with a new programmer Andy Bainbridge started work on two new games, Darwinia and DEFCON.

After spending a couple of weeks exploring the Farseer Physics Engine, we've realised we're going to need some more help. Enter the FlatRedBall XNA Game engine! This should make the job of creating our game a little easier. |
